Mesotherapy for Spot Fat Reduction

Mesotherapy is a technique which has been used in France for over 50 years, where small amounts of medication, vitamins and supplements are delivered into fat and the connective tissue of the skin (called the mesoderm.) This is used for many cosmetic and medical purposes including reduction of cellulite and fat, facial rejuvenation, and treatment of new scars/stretch marks.

What is Lipotherapy?

Lipotherapy is the specific mesotherapy technique that uses injections of medications to reduce the size of localized pockets of fat, such as; inner thighs, double chin, love handles, saddlebags, tummy fat.

What is No-Needle Mesotherapy?

No needle Mesotherapy is a technique where medications are delivered through the skin (without needles) utilizing an electrical charge to make the skin more permeable to medications.

Does it hurt?

No needle Mesotherapy is completely comfortable, for some even relaxing. Lipotherapy is mildly uncomfortable. If the patient wishes, a mild painkiller or numbing cream can be used. The discomfort level is often compared to that of waxing.

How long does it last?

Patients who make a commitment to maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle following and during treatment should see their results last unless they gain significant weight. Patients may choose to have some maintenance or touch up treatments intermittently following their initial package treatment.

What benefits does Mesotherapy / Lipotherapy have over surgical techniques such as SmartLipo?

The primary advantage of Mesotherapy/Lipotherapy over Liposuction is that it is a non-invasive procedure and therefore does not have the risks and downtime associated with surgery. Other advantages are that the skin remains attached to underlying structures which facilitates the healing process. Results with Lipotherapy are more natural and gradual, with almost no risk of the uneven or lumpy results sometimes resulting from liposuction. In fact, Lipotherapy is often used to correct poor results after liposuction.

What are the side effects, risks and recovery expectations of Mesotherapy?

The side effects of Lipotherapy are minimal and are usually limited to minor bruising and temporary tenderness of the treated area. Recovery is minimal. Most patients have little or no recovery time and can return to normal activities immediately.

Side effects of No-needle Mesotherapy are uncommon and are limited to infrequent but possible sensitivities to the medications used.

What results can be expected from Mesotherapy treatment?

Overall weight loss, targeted weight reduction and reduction of cellulite are reasonable expectations of Mesotherapy treatment. It can also be used to correct unevenness or lumps which sometimes result from liposuction.

Who is a candidate for Mesotherapy?

Any person who wants to achieve targeted weight loss and reduction of cellulite in specific areas of the body is an excellent candidate. The best candidates are non-smokers who lead a healthy lifestyle that includes diet and exercise. Dr Stacy encourages all of her patients to take care of themselves in every way to achieve maximal results.

What is the cost of Mesotherapy treatment?

The cost of Mesotherapy depends on the individual being treated, how many areas are treated, and what the goal of treatment is. Lipotherapy treatments are typically offered in packages of 4 sessions, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. No-needle Mesotherapy is offered in packages of 10 weekly sessions.
